Arkane Lyon, de geprezen studio achter Dishonered en Deathloop, kwam gisterennacht tijdens The Game Awards met de aankondiging van een gloednieuwe game. De verwachting was Dishonered 3 aangezien de naam werd gelekt in FTC-documenten in de zaak van Microsoft wat betreft de overname van Activsion Blizzard.
Maar Arkane had andere plannen voor The Game Awards. Game directeur Dinga Bakaba kwam ineens met de verrassende onthulling van de game Marvel’s Blade. Dit wordt een third person single player action adventure game met een origineel verhaal en alle vrijheid die je kent uit de games van Arkane Lyon. De vampierenjager Blade wordt 50 jaar oud sinds de eerste comic verscheen, en dat wordt gevierd met een game die helemaal draait om hem. In de onthullingstrailer zien we hoofdpersoon Eric Brooks bij een kapper waarna sirens afgaan en de vampierenjager opstaat voor actie. De game speelt zich af in een fictieve Parijs.
“In honor of Blade‘s 50th anniversary, we have found the perfect match for the Daywalker in Arkane Lyon, a studio of uncompromising artists who continually push the boundaries of game design and innovation,” said Marvel Games vice president and creative director Bill Rosemann in a press release. “In addition to their award-winning talent, it’s their personal passion and bold vision for our half-human, half-vampire iconoclast that makes this collaboration a perfect fit.”
Arkane Studios Lyon game director Dinga Bakaba added, “As a kid of mixed origins, I felt a special connection to Blade—a hero with a dual heritage himself. The opportunity to put our spin on this character is a dream of mine and a challenge that our team embraces with a passion. We couldn’t be happier to put players in Blade’s boots, as he becomes the champion of my hometown of Paris, one stake at a time.”
“From his trench coat to his iconic sunglasses, Blade is a slick, stylish, and driven character,” said Arkane Studios Lyon co-creative and art director Sebastien Mitton. “This project is the perfect opportunity to push Arkane’s art style into an even more modern and bold territory. Een releasedatum is niet bekend voor Marvel’s Blade. Ook zijn platforms niet bekend. De kans bestaat dat dit een Xbox-exclusieve game wordt aangezien Arkane, eigendom is van Microsoft.
