Toen Dead Island 2 eindelijk uitkwam na een moeilijke ontwikkelperiode, werden er twee premium DLC-pakketten aangekondigd. De eerste heet Haus en de tweede heeft de titel SolA. Daarmee leek er een einde te komen aan ondersteuning voor nieuwe content, maar ontwikkelaar Dambuster Studios heeft andere plannen.
In een nieuw bericht zegt Dambuster Studios lang niet klaar te zijn met het ondersteunen van Dead Island 2. Meer updates voor de zombiegame zijn in ontwikkeling. Wat dit precies gaat zijn is nog onzeker. De statement lijkt te hinten naar mogelijk een derde uitbreiding.
