Afgelopen maandag kondigde Microsoft de overname van Zenimax/Bethesda aan voor een enorme bedrag van 7.5 miljard dollar.
In het verleden nam de tech gigant studio’s als Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, Undead Labs en meer over. In totaal zijn er nu 23 unieke studio’s die eigendom zijn van Microsoft.
Maar Microsoft is nog niet klaar met overnames. In een interview met CNET heeft Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella aangegeven dat ze altijd kijken naar studio’s, kennis en licenties dat past bij de visie van Xbox.
We’ll always look for places where there is that commonality of purpose, mission and culture. You can’t wake up one day and say, ‘Let me build a game studio… The idea of having content is so we can reach larger communities. Content is just the incredible ingredient to our platform that we continue to invest in… This doubles the size of our creative organization.
