Nintendo had afgelopen avond een leuke aankondiging om 10 maart te vieren, ook wel bekend als Mario Day (MAR 10). In samenwerking met Illumination wordt er gewerkt aan een nieuwe The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
De aankondiging is gedaan met de onderstaande video waar Chris Meledandri, oprichter en CEO van Illumination, en Nintendo’s enige echte Shigeru Miyamoto, de bedenker en game directeur van Mario-games, een woordje doen. De nieuwe film staat gepland voor 3 april 2026, iets meer dan twee jaar dus. Het script van de nieuwe film wordt geschreven door Matthew Fogel. De executives zijn Aaron Horvath en Michael Jelenic. Chris Meledandri. Nintendo noemt in de aankondiging niet het woordje vervolg, maar spreekt wel een van nieuw avontuur.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was een gigantisch succes. Hoewel niet heel positief ontvangen door de internationale media, werd de film wel massaal bekeken en is tot nu toe de meest succesvolle film gebaseerd op een game franchise met een omzet van meer dan een miljard dollar.
