Nu alle PlayStation Plus Essential‑games van 2025 bekend zijn, is het een goed moment om terug te kijken op het volledige jaar. Sony gaf Essential‑abonnees in totaal voor €1500 aan games cadeau. Verspreid over twaalf maanden ontvingen spelers 39 PS4‑ en PS5‑titels met een gezamenlijke winkelwaarde van €1500.
Voor een jaarabonnement van €72 kregen PlayStation Plus Essential‑leden in 2025 dus 39 games terug. Geclaimde titels blijven speelbaar zolang je abonnement actief is. De maand december sprong eruit met het beste aanbod: vijf games met een totale waarde van €185. De meest waardevolle én best beoordeelde titel van het jaar was de horrorgame Alan Wake 2, die Sony in oktober toevoegde ter gelegenheid van Halloween. De nummer twee qua Metacritic‑score was Cocoon.
Sony heeft aangegeven dat het in 2026 sterker wil focussen op de PlayStation 5. Daardoor wordt verwacht dat er aanzienlijk minder PS4‑titels in het maandelijkse Essential‑aanbod zullen verschijnen.
