Niet lang geleden maakte Ubisoft bekend dat de remake van Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, niet meer in Ubisoft Mumbai wordt ontwikkeld. Ubisoft Montreal neemt het project over.
De gevolgen hiervan waren onduidelijk. Afgelopen week heeft retailer Gamestop alle pre-orders geannuleerd waardoor de verwarring nog groter werd.
Ubisoft heeft nu gereageerd. Het project wordt gewoon verder ontwikkeld door Ubisoft Montreal. De overschakeling van studio’s heeft wel gezorgd voor vertraging. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake komt niet in het fiscale jaar 2023 uit (loopt tot eind maart 2023).
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is in ontwikkeling voor de PlayStation 4, Xbox One en de PC.
“The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake.
As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along.”
