Sony Interactive Entertainment heeft een overeenkomst bereikt om het premium audiomerk Audenze over te nemen.
Audenze is een bedrijf die high end headsets maakt. Sony gaat Audenze nu overnemen om headsets te maken voor Sony Interactive Entertainment, daar valt PlayStation onder. Audenze zal ook na de overname headsets maken die compatible zijn voor andere apparaten. Audenze gaat dus nu niet exclusieve headsets voor PlayStation maken. Audenze krijgt nu wel toegang tot alle kennis van Sony bij het ontwikkelen van de PlayStation 5‘s Tempest 3D AudioTech en de PlayStation 5 Pulse 3D wireless headset. Hoeveel Sony precies heeft geïnvesteerd voor de overname is niet bekendgemaakt.
“Audeze is a premier brand for headphones, and this acquisition highlights Sony Interactive’s focus on innovation and providing the best audio experience to PlayStation players,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment platform experience senior vice president Hideaki Nishino in a press release. “We’re excited to bring Audeze’s expertise into the PlayStation ecosystem, building on the great strides we’ve made with PlayStation 5‘s Tempest 3D AudioTech and the Pulse 3D wireless headset.”
Audeze CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram added, “Sony Interactive provides Audeze with a unique opportunity to scale our business, as we continue with our mission to deliver best-in-class headphones to recording professionals, audiophiles, and gamers. We’re also looking forward to contributing to Sony Interactive’s efforts to take PlayStation audio experiences to the next level.”
