Sony Interactive Entertainment gaat in 2020 een nieuwe studio openen in Maleisië in 2020. Dit wordt geen grote studio die triple A-games gaat maken maar een studio die andere first party-ontwikkelhuizen gaat ondersteunen. Met name art en animaties wordt door PlayStation-baas Jim Ryan genoemd.
De minister van communicatie en multimedia van Maleisië genaamd YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, heeft het volgende te zeggen over de samenwerking met Sony:
With this establishment, Malaysia will be working closely with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios to create more opportunities for the local and regional games industry,” YB Gobind Singh Deo said. “Together, we will work to uplift creative talents in Malaysia and even establish a partnership with our local educational partners. This is to ensure that accelerated growth of the industry in our country will be supported
