Xbox-baas Phil Spencer heeft in een interview met Wall Street Journal Live aangegeven dat prijzen van Xbox-consoles, games en diensten omhoog kunnen gaan, maar op dit moment zullen de prijzen niet verhoogd worden.
De vraag werd gesteld omdat Sony recent de prijs van de PlayStation 5 in verschillende marketen met 10% verhoogde. Spencer heeft aangegeven dat er in ieder geval dit jaar geen prijsverhogingen gepland zijn, maar dat de prijs van Xbox Game Pass op een gegeven moment wel omhoog moet.
“For us running the business, we have to look at our return on the business, the cost of the business. We’ve held the price on our console, we’ve held price on games… and our subscription. I don’t think we’ll be able to do that forever. I do think at some point that we’ll have to raise our prices on certain things…”
“Going into this holiday we thought it was really important that we maintain the prices that we have, because we think consumers right now are more uncertain than they have been in a long time, and I want our medium of videogames to be something they find attractive.”
